We are looking for interested university and public school partners to expand College Writing Buddies across the country. If you are interested in getting your school or university involved, please reach out below!
K-12 Partners: Next year we are hoping to expand to at least 3 other schools in New Orleans and hope to bringing the program to other cities.
School Requirements:
Must be a public school serving majority low-income population.
As of right now, CWB is free for all participating schools. The school is only responsible for paying for the campus field trip, food for Meet Your Buddy Day, and food for tutoring night.
Must have a committed teacher-leader for each participating grade-level.
must have consistent access to technology at school as well as personal Google accounts for all students.
Teacher Commitments:
The teacher-leader must have planned a minimum of 8 writing projects for the semester. These 8 can be shared amongst classes on a grade-level and not just one teacher.
All participating teachers and one administrator must attend CWB training.
Teacher communicates regularly with designated University leader to streamline systems and expectations for all writing projects and events.
Teachers must encorporate CWB into their class, complete three mandatory lessons/activities (CWB expectations, how to email, how to use feedback), and continuously celebrate student writing growth and achievement.
University Partners: We are looking for universities across the country and here in New Orleans to expand our program!
University Requirements:
Must partner with local area schools.
Must have passion for service.
Host training days on campus.
Provide student transportation to Meet Your Buddy Day.
Must host students on campus for the College Field trip day.
CWB University Organization duties: The student organization is the heart of College Writing Buddies and fulfills the following obligations on campus:
Fundraise for events, marketing, and recruitment.
Recruit students
Train and manage all College Writing Buddies according to CWB systems and procedures.
Provide all feedback to school students
Talk directly with schools to organize events and transportation
